I am Going to Be a Missionary!

21 Behold, I say unto you that whoso believeth in Christ, doubting nothing, whatsoever he shall ask the Father in the name of Christ it shall be granted him; and this promise is unto all, even unto the ends of the earth.

22 For behold, thus said Jesus Christ, the Son of God, unto his disciples who should tarry, yea, and also to all his disciples, in the hearing of the multitude: Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature;

About two months ago, I was really struggling with accepting the fact that I would be serving a mission. I had so many fears and “what ifs” running through my mind. It was then I decided to say a prayer and ask my Father in Heaven for comfort. It was extremely late and I felt completely exhausted so I just went to read a few scriptures before bed. As I flipped open the Book of Mormon, this scripture is the first one I looked at. It is so simple and sweet but it was exactly what I needed to read. The purpose of my mission is not to focus on myself and the things I am giving up but rather to focus on those I will be teaching as the Savior, Jesus Christ would. Yes I still have days where I feel overwhelmed and a little stressed out but I know that I am doing what our Heavenly Father wants for me. I am so honored that He trusts me enough to go teach His Gospel to the people of Guatemala.

I know the Lord truly does keep His promises. As I have gone to Him in sincere prayer, I have felt His love and care reach out to me in so many different ways. Sometimes our prayers are answered in the most unexpected ways, but they are answered eventually. We have a loving Heavenly Father who is always there and always willing to listen no matter what circumstances we may be in.
